What about climate change? The African farmers are today aware that climate has changed although he/she does not know what produced this change. The results have been: lower production, lower income, the emergence of diseases (animals, plants), irregular weather patterns (low rainfall, floods, early frosts, etc).

What farmers need from climate smart agriculture (CSA) is increase in productivity; improved technological innovations-seeds, breeds, mechanization; favourable policies for investment in agriculture; innovative financing mechanisms; service oriented fos-extension, timely information, focused research.
